CHUB

COMMON CARP

Common carp can grow to a maximum length of 5 feet (1.5 meters), a maximum weight of over 80 lb (37.3 kg), and an oldest recorded age of at least 65 yearsThere was one carp that was caught that weighed 88.6 pounds (40.1 kilograms) The wild, non-domesticated forms tend to be much less stocky at around 20% - 33% the maximum size.

CRUCIAN CARP

They inhabit lakes, ponds, and slow-moving rivers throughout Europe and Asia. The crucian is a medium-sized cyprinid, which rarely exceeds a weight of over 3.3 pounds (1.5 kg). They usually have a dark green back, golden sides, and reddish fins, although other colour variations exist.

DACE

 In appearance it closely resembles the Roach in both size and shape, with the head and back of a dusky blue colour and the sides of a shining silvery aspect, with numerous dark lines running along the course of the scales.

IDE OR ORFE

The ide or orfe, Leuciscus idus, is a freshwater fish of the family Cyprinidae found across northern Europe and Asia. It occurs in larger rivers, ponds, and lakes, typically in schools.

GRASS CARP

Grass carp grow 10 pounds a year at least. They eat up to 3 times their own body weight daily. They thrive in small lakes and backwaters that provide an abundant supply of fresh water vegetation

PIKE

Pike can grow to a maximum recorded length of 1.83 metres (6 ft), reaching a maximum recorded weight of 35 kilograms (77 lb). The UK record pike was caught at Llandegfedd Reservoir in Wales.

Individuals have been reported to reach 30 years in age

ROACH

The roach is typically a small fish, often reaching no more than about 35 cm (14 inches) in length. A fish of 1 kg (2¼ lb) would be considered a largish specimen but they can, sometimes, obtain weights just in excess of 1.8 kg (4 lb).

ZANDER

The zander is a common and popular game fish in Europe: it is often eaten and may reach 20 kilograms in size.

 Zander are not, as is commonly believed, a pike and perch hybrid.

BARBEL

They are usually found in gravel and rocky bottomed fast flowing waters with high dissolved oxygen content. A typical adult barbel will range from 25 to 100 cm in length and weigh anywhere between 200 g and 10 kg, although weights of 1-2kg are more common Such is the popularity of the barbel that angling societies exist which specifically promote the pursuit and conservation of the species.

GUDGEON

Gudgeon is a common name for a number of small freshwater fishes of the families Cyprinidae, Eleotridae or Ptereleotridae. Most gudgeons are elongate, bottom-dwelling fish, many of which live in both lakes and fast moving water.

MIRROR CARP

Mirror carp are a type of fish commonly found in the United Kingdom and Europe. They can grow in excess of 60lb, with the last few British record fish have all been mirror carp.

PERCH

The perch can live for up to 22 years, and older perch are often much larger than average; the maximum recorded length is 60cm and reach a maximum weight of around 10.4kg
